Hello, My name is Dr. Boris Stoilov, and I would like to share with you my journey as an obstetrician-gynecologist and fetal medicine consultant.
Obstetrician-gynecologist, consultant in Fetal Medicine
I was born in Plovdiv in 1981, in the maternity department of what was then the First City Hospital (now MBAL "Sv. Mina"). I graduated from "St. St. Cyril and Methodius" High School with a humanities profile and intensive English studies. Since childhood, I dreamed of becoming a doctor, inspired by my grandfather, Dr. Boris Krastev, a pediatric rheumatologist and head of the Children's Department at the First City Hospital. He was an exceptional specialist and a person deeply respected and appreciated by many. I owe him immense gratitude for everything he taught me and for his constant support over the years.
In 2009, I began working as a volunteer in the maternity department of MBAL "Sv. Mina," driven by my desire to develop in obstetrics and gynecology. That same year, I received registration from the British General Medical Council (GMC) and embarked on a series of trainings and audits in the United Kingdom. In 2010, I completed a master’s degree in "Business Administration with a specialization in Healthcare Management" at UNWE, Sofia.
My specialization in obstetrics and gynecology began in the autumn of 2009 at the Medical University – Plovdiv and the maternity clinic of UMHAT "St. George," under the guidance of Prof. Milchev, and later, Prof. Pehlivanov. In 2014, I became a specialist in obstetrics and gynecology, and during this period, I also worked at the SBALAG "Selena" in Plovdiv.
Fetal medicine has always been of paramount importance to me, so I decided to further my education in the United Kingdom under the guidance of Prof. Kypros Nicolaides – a world leader in this field. My specialization lasted over two years in hospitals such as Kings College Hospital and University College London Hospital, where I gained invaluable experience working with the world’s top specialists. This has greatly contributed to my development as a physician.
In February 2024, I obtained my scientific and educational degree, "Doctor of Medicine" (MD), following a successfully completed doctoral program and defense of a doctoral dissertation. This achievement marks another step in my pursuit of continuous improvement and expanding my medical knowledge.
I believe that medicine is a continuous process of learning and development. I strive for constant advancement, knowing there is always more to learn.
